The Defence Headquarters says 197 insurgents surrendered to Nigerian troops in March 2026 as part of ongoing military operations across the country. It also reports the arrest of 1,359 suspects and the killing of 103 terrorists and other criminals during the same period. In addition, troops rescued 813 kidnapped hostages and destroyed 104 illegal refining sites.
According to figures released by the military on its social media platforms, those arrested included suspected terrorists, criminals, illegal miners and informants. The Defence Headquarters said among those killed were identified ring leaders, including Saddam, Saleh Garin Kago and Ba Alayi Benbeng.
The military also says operations in the Niger Delta led to the destruction of illegal refining sites and related infrastructure. It said 216,570 litres of illegally refined petroleum products and 254 weapons, ammunition and other supplies were recovered during the operations.

The Defence Headquarters says the figures reflect ongoing nationwide counter-terrorism, anti-crime and anti-oil theft operations. It adds that the operations are part of sustained efforts to disrupt criminal networks and improve security across Nigeria.
