10th Assembly Leadership: “Wait till Tuesday” – PDP Spokesman

After weeks of speculation over its position on the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party says the ruling All Progressives Congress will find itself a minority party on the floor of both houses next Tuesday.

The PDP says it has entered into a working agreement with other opposition parties ahead of the parliament’s inauguration.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the PDP’s Spokesman, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, refused to say whether his party will field candidates or not.

He insists that the situation will be clearer on Tuesday when the 10th Assembly will be inaugurated.

Mr Ologunagba says PDP lawmakers are united and opposition parties are ready to join them in determining who becomes the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He insists that parliament must be protected from anti-democratic forces, and his party is working in collaboration with its members-elect in both houses to forge a common front ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration.
