The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee probing inflows from recoveries from whistleblowers and expenditures, has threatened to summon the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and other top government officials over the alleged loss of $2.4 billion from the illegal sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil.
The AGF, the Minister of Finance, and others, had been invited by the committee chaired by Hon. Mark Gbillah, but failed to appear before it.

The committee says it is giving the appointees one last opportunity to appear before the it, adding that if the officials fail to honour the invitation again, they will be summoned and further statutory powers will be exercised.
According to the chairman of the committee, documents from the AGF show that payments have been made to whistleblowers and recoveries from whistle blowers, but there is no evidence to show that those monies were expended in accordance with the relevant laws.
