The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has suspended Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor, over accusations of engaging in activities deemed detrimental to the party.
The APC has alleged that he has been instrumental in forming splinter groups within the party and has made public statements against President Bola Tinubu, former governor Bisi Akande, and Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
The State Working Committee of the Osun APC announced that it found sufficient grounds for the allegations. In a letter addressed to the National Working Committee, Tajudeen Lawal and Alao Kamoru, the chairman and secretary of the Osun APC respectively, said that Mr Aregbesola’s actions contravene the party’s constitution.
In response to these developments, the State Executive Committee has established a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter further and to afford the former governor the opportunity to respond to the claims against him.
