25 Die, Over 1,100 affected in Sokoto Cholera Outbreak

25 Die, Over 1,100 affected in Sokoto Cholera Outbreak

No fewer than 25 people have died, and over 1,100 others affected following a cholera outbreak in Sokoto State. The disease, also known as Gastroenteritis, has hit three local government areas including Sokoto North, Silame, and Kware.

The State Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe, confirmed to reporters that 15 active cases are currently being treated, with laboratory tests confirming the diagnoses and health teams working tirelessly to manage the outbreak and prevent further spread.

Dr. Balarabe commended the state government’s swift response, noting that medication and medical supplies have been distributed to 18 local government areas as part of intervention efforts. She assured the public of the state’s commitment to curbing the disease.
