Thirty-five minors have been confirmed dead following a stampede at a funfair held at Islamic High School, Orita Bashorun, Ibadan.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, pledging a thorough investigation and vowing to bring those responsible to justice. He also extended condolences to the affected families.
The State Police Command announced the arrest of seven suspects, including ex-Queen of Ife Naomi Silekunola, the event’s main sponsor, and the school’s Principal, Fasasi Abdulahi. Six others remain in police custody.

Police spokesperson Adewale Osifeso confirmed that six people are receiving medical care for critical injuries. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, with heightened police patrols launched to maintain public order.
