At least 37 suspected internet fraudsters, known as ‘Yahoo Boys,’ have been arrested in Awka, Anambra State. The arrests were made by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters in Ifite, Awka.
In a brief statement posted on its X handle, the EFCC confirmed the operation, stating that all the suspects were male. The arrests followed intelligence suggesting their involvement in fraudulent online activities.

Authorities recovered several items from the suspects, including six luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones, which are believed to be linked to their illicit activities.
The EFCC has indicated that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
