60 Terrorists Killed in Major Army Operation in Borno

At least 60 insurgents have been killed in a joint land and air assault by Nigerian forces in Bita, Borno State. The Nigerian Army confirmed the overnight operation, describing it as a “decisive and coordinated” response to an attack on troops from the 26 Task Force Brigade.

According to a statement released on Friday, the attack began at approximately 1:09am, prompting a swift counteroffensive by both ground troops and the Nigerian Air Force. The operation successfully neutralised a significant number of Boko Haram fighters.

The Air Force also confirmed its involvement. Spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the air component of Operation Hadin Kai achieved “major operational success”, though he did not give specific casualty figures.

The Bita area has long been a hotspot for insurgent activity. This latest offensive is part of ongoing efforts to restore stability in Nigeria’s north-east.
