About 81% of Nigerians in the employment pool are not in any productive sector of the economy. This is according to the Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee, Taiwo Oyedele.
Mr. Oyedele, who was speaking at the Africa Trade and Investment Summit, said while the unemployment rate in Nigeria is relatively low at 4.2%, most employed Nigerians do not add any meaningful value to the economy.

According to him, while Nigeria cannot control the global economic climate, a change in policy direction can help manage the economic situation of the country.
