Nigerian security forces have rescued 84 hostages in a major operation targeting terrorist hideouts in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Troops from the 17 Brigade, supported by the Air Component of Operation Forest Sanity, launched an assault on the stronghold of militant leader Sanusi Dutsin-Ma in the Pauwa highlands on Tuesday morning. Airstrikes and ground offensives forced terrorists to retreat, with clashes in Malori and Matalawa villages before troops reached the main camp by mid-afternoon.

Three militants were killed, while others fled with injuries. Among those freed were seven men, 23 women, and 54 children.
