The governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma says the number of inmates that have now voluntarily returned to the Nigeria Correctional Service facility in Owerri, Imo state where they were set free by unknown gunmen suspected to be IPOB members on Monday has risen to 85, with more calling through their lawyers to be sure they won’t be recharged to court upon their return. He said this in a television interview yesterday.

The governor made this known in a television interview on Wednesday, as he believes that these attacks carried out in his state are aimed at destabilizing the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Some law enforcement facilities in Imo state have come under attack in the last few days, with the Nigeria Correctional Service being attacked, and inmates set free as parts of the building and some cars were burnt. The state police headquarters and a divisional police headquarters were also attacked in two separate attacks.
