9 out of 10 people in Gaza have been displaced at least once, UN says

Approximately 9 in every 10 people in the Gaza Strip have been displaced at least once since Israel’s assault on the besieged enclave began, the UN humanitarian agency says.

The head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA, Mr Andrea De Domenico, said his agency estimates that the frequency of displacement ranges anywhere from one to ten times since October 2023.

While speaking to reporters at a briefing from occupied East Jerusalem, he put the actual figures at 1.9 million who have been internally displaced multiple times.

Mr De Domenico also noted the difficulties involved in delivering much-needed aid to Palestinians in Gaza, saying that this remains a daily struggle. According to him, Nowhere and no one is safe in Gaza.
