President Bola Tinubu is seeking the support of the European Union to assist Nigeria and Africa in strengthening security and economic development in order to alleviate poverty on the continent.
A statement signed by the Director of Information, State House, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye, says President Tinubu’s request was made during a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council, Mr. Charles Michel,Â

While requesting the EU consider specific areas of security challenges, like Lake Chad and coastal areas, the President promised to remain in contact with the European Union and other member states.
The European Council president, Mr. Michel, while noting that Nigeria is important to the EU and the International Community, pledged the commitment of the Council towards stronger cooperation and partnership with Nigeria based on mutual respect and common interest.
