Democracy Day: Sanwo-Olu To Attend The June 12 Anniversary

Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu joins leaders of pro-democracy groups and Civil Society Organisations to observe the 30th anniversary of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election.

In a statement he issued on Sunday, the Media Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, says the governor will deliver a Keynote Speech at the 30th Anniversary of June 12, organized by Alliance For Yoruba Democratic Movements (AYDM), themed: “30 Years After June 12: Tactics and Strategy for Sustainable Democracy in the Future Years.”

The statement also says the governor will take part in a procession to the residence of the winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election, late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, to lay a wreath at the grave of the deceased.

The June 12 1993 election is widely regarded as Nigeria’s fairest election with the then Social Democratic Party Candidate, Moshood Kashimawo Olalekan (MKO) Abiola in the lead to become president before it was annulled by the then Head of State, General Babangida.
