It was a sombre occasion yesterday as Usman Buda, the butcher who was killed over alleged blasphemy in Sokoto on Sunday, was buried according to Islamic rites.
The late Buda was beaten and stoned to death following an argument over a religious matter at the Sokoto main abattoir.
His murder has continued to be a matter of concern as some of the eyewitnesses who spoke to Daily Trust refuted the blasphemous claim.
His 80 year old father, Abdullahi Buda, called on Senator Aliyu Wamakko and the Sokoto state government to come to the aid of his family, as Usman was the breadwinner.

Speaking on Radio Now’s The Big Story yesterday, Imam Bashir Mundi, a Professor of Religious Studies, University of Georgia, USA, and Imam of Al Furqan Mosque, said nothing should operate outside the constitution of the land.Â
He added that there is an entire process involved before an accusation of blasphemy can be substantiated.Â
Imam Mundi said no one outside a process of judicial authority has the right to effect any form of punishment and called on the authorities as they could lead to reprisals and other unpleasant acts.
