President Bola Tinubu says he understands the hardship brought abut by the removal of fuel subsidy, assuring that the decision was in the best interest of the country, especially in guaranteeing future prosperity.
Speaking when he received 18 governors who served with him from 1999, President Tinubu appealed for more patience from Nigerians, saying the framework for palliatives to address the effects of fuel subsidy removal was being worked out.
He also said the government is intent on putting in place a full-proof social security structure that will not be compromised, especially in cash-transfer.

President Tinubu also added that he knows the situation poses difficulties for Nigerians, and he assures that many will soon , in his own words, “rejoice in the prosperity of our country.”
He had, earlier in the day, written to the House of Representatives seeking an amendment to the 2023 supplementary appropriation act to accommodate N500 billion for provision of palliatives for Nigerians.
