Jenni Hermoso and Alba Redondo scored twice as Spain underlined their credentials as potential Fifa Women’s World Cup winners by thrashing Zambia 5-0 to progress to the last 16 with a game to spare.
Spain topped Group C with six points and Eight goals scored from two games and conceded none so far, while Japan also booked a round of 16 spot after defeating Costa Rica 2-0 in the other fixture.

Costa Rica and Zambia have now been eliminated from the World Cup after failing to pick a point or score a goal in two games.
The two sides Spain and Japan will meet in a battle for first place on Monday, 31 July 2023.
