The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) says Nigeria has recorded 836 cases of diphtheria and 83 deaths.
The figures were announced by Faisal Shuaib, NPHCDA executive Director, who was speaking at a press conference on the outbreak of the disease yesterday.Â

According to Mr Shuaib, more than 2,400 suspected cases have been reported in 26 states from May last year to July this year.
The confirmed cases were recorded in 33 LGAs across eight states, namely; Cross River, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Lagos, Osun, Yobe, and FCT.
