President Bola Tinubu says the federal government and the labour unions are working to determine a new minimum wage threshold for Nigerian workers.
According to the President, the federal government will make budgetary provisions for the implementation of the new minimum wage as soon as an agreement is reached by the parties involved.

To mitigate the economic impact of the decision, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have demanded that the federal government increase the current national minimum wage.
