General Abdourahmane Tchiani, leader of the Niger junta, says the military is ready to explore diplomatic dialogue.
The General said this during a meeting with Nigeria’s intervention team over the weekend.
The Nigerian contingent comprised Islamic scholars who were led by Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, National Chairman of Jam’atul Izalatu Bida Waikamatu Sunnah.

A statement signed by Sheikh Lau yesterday, says the coup leader and Islamic scholars deliberated on several issues including the demand by ECOWAS leaders to reinstate democratically elected President, Mohammed Bazoum.
Sheikh Lau also says the junta is not happy the Economic Community of West African States did not hear their side of the matter before issuing ultimatums.
