The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) has directed the Aviation Security and Logistics sub-sector to proceed on an immediate strike beginning today.
The strike is over poor wages of workers.
In a circular signed by NUATE General Secretary, Ocheme Aba, the union drew attention to the monthly N30,000 earned by workers, describing it as paltry.

The circular was addressed to the Director-General Civil Aviation; Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria; Commissioner of Police, Airports Command, the Airport Commandant, Director, Department of State Security (DSS); and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).
Mr Aba noted that all efforts to negotiate improved wages had failed and stressed that N30,000 is not sufficient in today’s Nigeria.
