Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Paramount Ruler and Deji of Akure kingdom, and the Ondo State government were locked in what could easily pass as a supremacy battle on Thursday.
In commemoration of the annual ‘aheregbe festival’, the monarch ordered the closure of markets and shops in the ancient town, permitting only pharmacies and patient medicine stores to remain open during the festival.

He added that the festival would not in any way restrict human or vehicular movement.
However, in a counter-reaction, the state government told the monarch that the State Executive Council mandates the Governor’s approval before any markets can be closed.
