The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has reiterated his commitment to his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Governor Obaseki had recently accused his deputy of plotting against him, further deepening a rift between the duo.
However, the Deputy Governor has downplayed the rift, declining to make public comments about the Governor.

Despite this, Deputy Governor Shaibu had approached the court seeking protection from possible impeachment and removal from office.
In his affirmation of his loyalty to Governor Obaseki, the Deputy Governor said ambition is personal and does not affect loyalty.
He insists that his loyalty remains absolute and he stands in solidarity with the governor.
