Lagos Issues Flood Alert to Residents Of Lekki-Ajah, Meiran, Ajegunle, Others

The Lagos State Government has issued a fresh flood alert telling some residents to prepare for flooding in the month of September.

This follows the release of an updated 2023 Water Releases Forecast for Flood Control by the Ogun-Osun River Basin Authority.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, Mr. Lekan Shodeinde.

The affected areas include Alagbole, Meiran, Maidan, Kara, Isheri-Olowora, Agiliti, Owode-Onirin, Owode-Elede, Agboyi I, Agboyi II, Ajegunle, Itowolo, Majidun, Ibeshe, Baiyeku and Lekki-Ajah axis.

According to Mr. Shodeinde the safety of lives and properties is of the utmost importance to the state government. 

He urged residents and property owners in the at-risk areas to be ready to move upland when the water level rises and shows signs of flooding.
