Kano Pays N20,000 Education Stipend To 45,000 Girls

The Kano State Government has begun issuing a N20,000 stipend to 45,000 girls in a bid to support girl-child education and encourage parents to send their daughters to school.

The move was announced by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during the commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Governor Yusuf says his administration is also re-introducing the girl child school buses and is building new schools across the 44 Local Government councils to address the out-of-school children in the state.

The governor added that his administration is still committed to sending 1001 First Class graduates this academic session to study for Masters degrees at universities abroad, as part of its high-level manpower development program.
