Mali Beat Burkina Faso 2-1 To Progress Into AFCON Quarterfinals

The Eagles of Mali beat the Stallions of Burkina Faso 2-1 last night in the ongoing CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.

An own goal in the 3rd minute from Edmond Tapsoba gave Mali the lead, and two minutes into the second half, Lassine Sinayoko extended that lead to 2-0.

10 minutes later, Bertrand Traore’s spot-kick reduced the deficit to 2-1 after a call for handball was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee.

Despite pressure from Burkina Faso, Mali was able to hold them off, taking the win and securing their spot in the quarter-finals, where they will face the tournament hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, on Saturday, 3 February in Bouake.
