The Super Eagles are through to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time since winning the competition back in 2013.
The match, which was watched by Vice President Shettima, went the full distance, and ended in a penalty shootout against oponents South Africa.
After playing out a 1-1 draw in regulation time, and the ensuing 30 minutes of extra time saw the scores unchanged and the match undecided, Nigeria came out on top winning 4-2 on penalties, with Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, who was named man of the match, denying the opponents twice from the spot.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has hailed the Eagles for their victory in the match. In a statement by his Media Aide, Rabiu Ibrahim, said the Super Eagles displayed remarkable talent, determination, and teamwork throughout the match, showcasing the true spirit of Nigerian football.
