The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed that Point-of-Sales, POS, machines and other electronic mobile money transaction devices will no longer be allowed within police stations and police facilities nationwide.
Egbetokun said the ban became imperative following public outcry on alleged illegal and illicit transactions of POS machine operators with certain police operatives.

Speaking through the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IG, who says the ban is aimed at preserving the integrity and security of police operations, also stressed that the directive is also intended to forestall perceived corrupt practices and maintain discipline within the Force.
IGP Egbetokun also warns that any command or formation caught flouting the order would be severely dealt with, while police officers and POS operators involved would face dire consequences.
