Reps Member Says There Should Be Thorough Investigation Into Delta Killings

A Member of the House of Representatives representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in Delta State, Francis Waive, is calling for a thorough investigation on the killings of soldiers and reprisal attacks in Okuama community of Delta State.

In a statement on Monday, while condemning the attack that claimed the lives of 16 army personnel deployed on a peace mission to resolve the clash between youths of Okuama and Okoloba communities, Honourable Waive said the lives of the people are also precious.

The federal lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, said the investigation is necessary to reveal if fifth columnists were involved in the saga.

He also said there is a need for the security agents to comb the areas where the corpses of the soldiers were found, and make sure their killers were found and brought to book.

He also called on speedy intervention actions of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to shelter and give succour to the residents who have been displaced by the crises.
