The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Monday, received 22 students and staff members of the Federal University of Gusau in Zamfara State who were rescued on Sunday.
On 22nd September last year, Bandits riding on about 50 motorcycles, armed with sophisticated weapons invaded three students’ rented apartments in Sabon Gida Village near the Federal University Gusau, and abducted over 30 students and staff members. Seven of the students were subsequently rescued while two escaped.
Last Sunday, the remaining students were rescued by security forces.

Speaking while receiving the students in Abuja, the NSA appreciated the security operatives for rescuing the students without, in his own words, losing any of them or paying any ransom.
Earlier, the National Coordinator, National Counter-terrorism Center, Major-General Adamu Laka (rtd.) said search and rescue operations conducted by security agencies led to the release of the students in three batches.
