Lagos and Ogun Governments In Talks To Extend Blue Line To Agbara

The Lagos and Ogun State Governments are in talks over plans to extend Phase 2 of the Blue Line metro rail, currently under construction from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, further into Agbara in neighbouring Ogun State.

Mr. Olasukanmi Okusaga, the Director of Rail Transport at the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority, LAMATA, made the announcement during an inspection of the ongoing construction project by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC.

The project, which was awarded in 2023, is expected to take three years to complete, and will include six stations in Festac, Alakija, Trade Fair, Volkswagen, LASU, and Okokomaiko, along with three bridges in Maza Maza, Satellite Town, and LASU. This phase covers a 14-kilometre stretch.

Additionally, there are plans to construct a depot in Okokomaiko.
