NANS Condemns ASUU Strike In UniAbuja

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has condemned a section of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, specifically the University of Abuja, UniAbuja, branch, for going on strike.

In a statement on Monday, The National President, Lucky Emonefe, questioned why ASUU went on strike at the least prompting when other options of dispute resolutions were open for consideration.

While expressing happiness that a large section of the UniAbuja lecturers had rejected and dissociated themselves from the strike action, he said, NANS salutes the university’s members of the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics, NAMDA, and the Congress of Nigerian Universities Academics, CONUA, for rejecting the strike.

According to him, the lack of sensitivity and regard for students, parents, and the education system is unacceptable and unbecoming of the union of intellectuals who, he says, should have known better.
