Senators of the 10th Assembly have pledged to donate N74m to support the victims of the flood that left over 80% of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, submerged under water last week.
Announcing the donation, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, who represented the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, said each of the 108 senators would donate N500,000, making a lump sum of N54m, while he personally announced the donation of N10m. Additionally, the Northern Senators Forum also donated N10, bringing the total to N74m.

After meeting with Borno State Governor Zulum, the Senators also paid a condolence visit to Senator Baba Kaka Garbai, who represented Borno Central in the Eighth Senate over the demise of his mother last week.
