Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has paid a visit to the Secretariat of the Ikwerre Local Government Council in Isiokpo.
His visit was to assess the extent of damage done to the Secretariat after it was attacked by arsonists on Monday.
Ikwerre was one of the Local Government Areas where unidentified men set torched buildings as the newly elected council officials were to assume offices.
In the wake of the attacks by arsonists on some local council secretariats, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Nigeria Police Force to protect local government secretariats in Rivers State against incursion by arsonists and vandals.

The three secretariats which were torched are Eleme, Emohua and Ikwerre LGAs, while Khana, Ahoada East, Etche, Oyigbo, Obio/Akpor and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGAs were heavily attacked with gunmen shooting carelessly.
