NAFDAC Destroys Over N10 Billion in Fake and Substandard Drugs

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has destroyed fake, expired, and substandard drugs valued at over 10 billion Naira.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in Gombe by the agency’s Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, represented by the North-East Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Kenneth Azikwe. He revealed that these products were seized from manufacturers, importers, and distributors across the six states in the Northeast geopolitical zone.

Among the items destroyed were substandard and fake medicines, falsely labelled products, unwholesome food items, and cosmetics.

Professor Adeyeye reaffirmed NAFDAC’s commitment to ensuring that only safe and quality food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals, and packaged water are available for consumption in Nigeria.
