Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering a controversial strategy to cut off humanitarian aid to northern Gaza, aiming to weaken Hamas militants. If enacted, this plan could leave hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, who either cannot or choose not to evacuate, without essential food and water.
Throughout the ongoing conflict, Israel has issued numerous evacuation orders for northern regions, with the latest directive released on Sunday. Proposed by a group of retired military leaders, this initiative would increase pressure on Palestinians, granting them one week to exit the northern Gaza Strip, including Gaza City, before designating the area as a closed military zone.

Remaining residents would be deemed combatants, subjecting them to potential military action and depriving them of food, water, medicine, and fuel. The proposal suggests Israel would maintain control over the northern sector indefinitely, aiming to establish a new governance structure devoid of Hamas, effectively dividing the Gaza Strip in two.
