President Bola Tinubu has condemned what he labelled as the ‘inhumane treatment’ of Nigeria’s Super Eagles players and coaches by Libyan authorities, demanding immediate justice for the team.
In a statement released on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu urged the Confederation of African Football, CAF, to take decisive action to prevent such incidents in the future.
He praised the resilience of the Nigerian team for maintaining their spirit amid the distressing circumstances they faced in Libya.

The Super Eagles were reportedly held at Al Abaq airport since Sunday evening upon their arrival for the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, following their recent victory in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. In response to the public outcry, the Nigeria Football Federation announced on Monday the withdrawal of the Super Eagles from the match.
