In response to the prolonged power outage affecting several northern states, President Bola Tinubu has instructed Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and all relevant agencies to expedite efforts to restore electricity to the affected areas. This directive comes as the region endures more than eight days without power due to recent vandalism of vital transmission lines.
In addition, the President has mandated National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to coordinate closely with the Nigerian Army and Air Force, ensuring that sufficient security, including aerial surveillance, is provided for engineers working on the damaged infrastructure.
In a strong warning, President Tinubu said that Nigeria will no longer tolerate deliberate acts of sabotage and destruction against essential public utilities. The blackout has raised significant concerns among local stakeholders and beyond, underscoring the critical need for both security and expedient repair efforts.
