Governors and traditional rulers concluded a meeting at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, resolving to establish a joint committee to examine and consolidate proposals on constitutional roles for traditional rulers.
Following the discussions, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State briefed journalists, revealing that the meeting’s agenda had centered on formalizing roles for traditional leaders within the nation’s constitutional framework.
Governor Abiodun announced the decision to form a committee composed of governors and traditional leaders tasked with drafting a comprehensive document. This proposal will be presented to the National Assembly, advocating for an enhanced role for traditional institutions in governance, with a focus on peace and security across the states and the Federal Capital Territory.
