A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the case against people charged in connection with the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu dismissed the suit after an application by Mohammed Abubakar, representing the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), to take over and discontinue the case under Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution.
Following the AGF’s request, Justice Egwuatu also approved the motion to end the trial and ordered the immediate release of the 119 accused, many of whom are minors. This decision followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the charges to be terminated and the minors released.
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, emphasised the President’s commitment to ensuring the release without interfering with any ongoing legal processes.
