Edo Queens, the reigning champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), are set to earn a minimum of $150,000 for their participation in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
CAF, the continent’s football governing body, has increased prize money for this year’s tournament by 52 percent, according to a statement released on Thursday. The competition’s champions will take home $600,000, with the runners-up receiving $400,000.
Teams finishing in third and fourth positions will be awarded $350,000 and $300,000, respectively. Clubs exiting in the group stages will earn between $150,000 and $200,000, based on their final standings.
