In response to the economic pressures from rising fuel costs and the high cost of living, the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) held the 20th edition of its Food Hub program on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

The Chairman,  Muibi Alade Folawiyo while expressing gratitude for the programme’s success, added that the initiative aims to make raw food materials more accessible and affordable for low-income families.

Speaking with Radio Now 95.3FM reporters, he said “The people of Lagos Island East and Lagos Island at large are so happy. This community market not only covers Lagos Island East, it covers Lagos Island East and Lagos Island local government. And it also covers outside Lagos Island.
People from Ikorodu are coming here to market with us here and people from other places in Lagos. We are so happy. We are promising we will continue and continue to make good use of their money. And this edition will not be the last by the grace of God.”

During the press briefing, the Chairman further offered words of encouragement to Nigerians, urging them to remain calm and patient as the nation navigates these challenging times.

“It’s appealing to the public that there is no country in the world that will not go through action before the good. There should be exercise patience. Our president, Governor Bola Metunungu, is working round the clock to make sure that the economy base of Lagos, Nigeria and Nassau is robust.
I want to assure them, as he also said, better days are coming for Nigeria,” said Honourable Folawiyo.
