The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has announced a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and other key stakeholders aimed at linking the nation’s Export Processing Terminals with Domestic Export Warehouses. The initiative is set to bolster connectivity between ports and inland trade, a move expected to provide significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Speaking at the 2024 Lagos International Trade Fair, themed ‘Connecting businesses, creating value’, NPA Managing Director Abubakar Dantsoho highlighted the collaboration’s potential to drive economic growth by strengthening infrastructure between ports and hinterland regions.
Mr Dantsoho also announced that the NPA is advancing towards complete automation of port operations through the Ports Community System. This development, he explained, is a foundational step towards implementing the National Single Window, an initiative designed to streamline business processes across Nigeria’s trade sector.
The NPA’s efforts, he added, align with the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing ease of doing business, further reinforcing Nigeria’s trade infrastructure for global competitiveness.
