Ogun monarchs broker peace as 19 aggrieved aspirants back candidate in upcoming Local Government Poll

Seventeen traditional rulers from Yewa North Local Government in Ogun State have successfully mediated a peace agreement among chairmanship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the November 16 election. The reconciliation effort comes after intra-party tensions escalated across the local government following allegations of candidate imposition in the APC primaries.

The traditional rulers, led by the Abepa of Joga-Orile, met with 19 discontented aspirants in a reconciliation session. During the gathering, the monarchs urged unity and calm, emphasising the need to strengthen the party’s cohesion for the upcoming election.

Following the mediation, facilitated by the Eselu of Eselu, Oba Akinyemi Akintunde, all aspirants agreed to support Dr. Olusola Akinbode as the APC’s chairmanship candidate. They pledged their commitment to ensure his success in the upcoming poll.
