The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, arrived in Abuja on Thursday, ahead of his burial scheduled for Friday. A Nigerian Airforce plane carrying the remains landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s presidential wing at around 12:15 p.m.
Military officials, accompanied by a band, received the late COAS with full honors, including a guard of honor and a red-carpet procession. The remains had departed Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport earlier that morning.
Lieutenant General Lagbaja will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, with Nigeria’s top military brass expected to attend the ceremony.
