13 Dead, 164 Injured in Road Traffic Accidents Across Ekiti in 2024

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ekiti State has reported a significant reduction in road fatalities, recording 13 deaths from 64 crashes in 2024. This was disclosed by the Sector Commandant, Mr. Joseph Olusola, during a press conference marking the 2024 Road Traffic Crash (RTC) Victims Remembrance Week in Ado-Ekiti.

Between January and September this year, 164 people were injured in accidents across the state, with Olusola noting a 63% reduction in fatalities and an 18% decrease in overall crashes compared to previous years.

While emphasising that passengers are more likely to be victims in road traffic accidents than drivers, Mr. Olusola also called on commuters to play a more active role in road safety, urging them to speak out against reckless driving and dangerous behaviours that contribute to accidents.

He further reassured the public of the FRSC’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to raise awareness, enhance enforcement of traffic laws, and reduce road traffic fatalities.
