A tragic bandit attack in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has claimed the life of a kidnapping victim, who succumbed to gunshot wounds despite receiving medical care. The victim was among two individuals injured during the incident and rushed to hospital by police responding to the attack.
The assailants, armed and firing sporadically, ambushed two commercial vehicles at Dan’arau village on the Magama Jibia road late yesterday evening. Their goal was to abduct passengers, but quick action by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team thwarted the attempt. In a fierce exchange of gunfire, the officers rescued 14 people from the clutches of the bandits.

Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson for Katsina State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing attackers. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Musa, praised the officers’ bravery and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to authorities to enhance community safety.
