The leadership of the Senate has directed its Committee on Finance to suspend further action on the proposed tax bill until after a high-level meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on Thursday, December 5.
Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin, made the announcement during today’s plenary, revealing that a special committee has been formed to address contentious issues in the bill. The decision follows a series of deliberations among lawmakers aimed at resolving disagreements over key provisions.

Stakeholders have raised concerns over several areas in the bill, leading to heated debates in recent days. To further address these issues, the Senate leadership announced plans to convene a special meeting chaired by the Minority Leader to harmonise positions and ensure the bill aligns with national priorities.
