The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, has named Nigeria’s Ademola Adeyemi-Bero as the Chairman of its Board of Governors for 2025.
Mr. Adeyemi-Bero, who serves as the Managing Director and CEO of First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company, also holds the position of Nigeria’s OPEC Governor.
The appointment was ratified during the 189th OPEC Conference, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Nneamaka Okafor, media aide to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources – Oil.

Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, hailed the appointment as a testament to the country’s leadership within the global energy sector.
Additionally, OPEC has appointed Saudi Arabia’s OPEC Governor, Adeeb Al-Aama, as Alternate Chairman of the Board of Governors for the same period.
