Nigeria’s national grid has collapsed for the 12th time in 2024, plunging several areas into darkness. The collapse occurred at approximately 2:09 pm on Wednesday, according to a tweet from the National Grid’s official handle.
In a statement to its customers, Jos Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the incident, stating the grid collapsed at 1:33 pm, resulting in a loss of power supply to its feeders. Efforts to restore electricity are ongoing.

This marks the 12th grid collapse this year, with 11 previous incidents recorded between January and November 2024. Authorities are yet to provide a detailed explanation for the recurrent failures.
